Oldest in my collection – Products I am throwing out – Part 1

I recently decided to go through my entire make-up collection. This included re-organizing, re-discovering products, finding unopened and unused products, cleaning and sanitising my products and finding OLD ones. I will admit, I am one of those people who keeps products a little longer than I probably should which is why I do like to go through everything every now and again to get rid of old products. This is what I am currently getting rid of and a few little stories about the history of these products!

Maybelline Eye Liner: This product is in the shade ‘charcoal’ and this is something that I mistakenly picked up thinking it was black! It is definitely a charcoal shade and not necessarily something that I would have picked up if I double checked the shade (it was sitting in the wrong section in the store). Even being the wrong shade, I did definitely use this product – it is just now waaaaaay past its use by and I am throwing it out.

Dior Addict Ultra Gloss: This is the first and only Dior product that I have ever bought. Not because I dislike the brand but because they are quite expensive! I have just literally had this product for years and years and years – it’s bad. It is in the shade 097 and I don’t even know if they make this particular shade/product anymore. I don’t wear it – it has just been sitting in my make-up drawer. Definitely time to get rid of!

NYX Taupe Blush: I used this product as a bronzer/contour shade for quite a while! It was for sure my go to product for this. I am not sure as to what has happened to it – it has just gone bad. Every time I put my brush into this product – absolutely NO product gets picked up. I have sanitised this, scraped off the top layer multiple times and no matter what I do it just doesn’t work. The only thing that I can think of is that it has gone bad in the year that I have owned it.

Calvin Klein 104 Eye shadow: I picked this product up for maybe $3 or so in a bargain clearance bin years ago. It’s not that I don’t love the shade – I do but I have just owned it for too long and I never actually find myself reaching for this product. I haven’t used it all that much since I bought it. It was a cheapy impulse purchase!

Calvin Klein Desire Blush: This is one of those perfect pink shades. I picked this up at the same time as the eye shadow and it cost me about $5 years and years back. This is another product that I didn’t use all that much and have definitely found that the formulation/product itself has changed which has me thinking that it has gone bad. Definitely going in the ‘get rid of’ pile.

MAC Lipgelee Gloss: This was the first ever MAC product that I ever picked up and this is another product that is so ridiculously old that I absolutely need to get rid of it. I am going to ‘back to MAC’ this product for sure! But yes, absolutely the time to get rid of this product – it has been sitting in my collection for far too long!

Revlon Pink Sugar Lipstick: This is one of the first Revlon lipsticks I ever purchased and I haven’t actually used it all that much as there is basically ZERO pigmentation in this product. I do really love Revlon lipsticks and don’t find this to be a regular problem but this lipstick just did not work for me. It has been gathering dust which is why I am getting rid of it.

Chanel 104 Lipgloss: This is another really old product that I picked up so many years ago and the fact that it is still sitting in my collection is just bonkers haha. In all honesty it is probably 8 years old. It is definitely time to throw this out!! My tastes have definitely changed over the years – I would not pick up a crazy glittery lipgloss like this again.

Rimmel Kate Lipstick: This product is in the number 26 and is oh-so-wrong for my skin colour. Honestly this product just completely washes me out and it’s not a flattering nude colour at all. It really just looks absolutely ridiculous on me. There were no testers for this product at the time so I did take a leap of faith with this product but it wasn’t worth it.

Garnier Roll On Cream: I feel like this product was all the rage when it first came out. It seemed as though every beauty lover either owned or wanted this and the face bb cream version. It was just okay. Even though I bought the lightest shade – it was still too dark for my skin and way too dark for a concealer. I just couldn’t make this product work and it just didn’t work for me all around. It is also super old!!

Do you own any really really old beauty products? Do you go through and purge products? Have you tried any of the above? Let me know your thoughts!
